About
My first camera was a Box Brownie, progressing through fixed lens film cameras to a Nikkormat, with darkroom developing of B&W and Cibachrome, until the digital age of DSLRs with multiple lenses, and editing with Lightroom and Photoshop. While still a student I took a medical patrol into the then relatively unexplored Southern Highlands of New Guinea and my first photographic success was the cover photograph of a tribesman in the British "Geographical Magazine". I was able to combine my passion of photography with travel and have traveled to over 50 countries with my wife Kerry over subsequent years ( who has been patiently supportive with the demands of my photography!).
My particular interests apart from travel photography are macro photography , portraiture and monochrome. I continue to learn and explore ways to improve the approach to fine art photography and have been in various exhibitions in Perth, Australia. I was a top 20 finalist in both photo of the year and travel in the "Australian Photography" magazine 2016 and successful in various WA state competitions as well as a finalist in the British CUPOTY competition 2019, and runner up for portfolio in the WA photographic federation "Clickwest" 2021. My current cameras are Nikon D750 and Z6.
